SOS-3700 is TESU’s Challenges in U.S. and Global Public Health course. It introduces domestic and international health policy, moving from the policy process and public health law through insurance, the Affordable Care Act and global health systems to case studies of current challenges. What SOS-3700 is really about
The course reads Wilensky and Teitelbaum’s Essentials of Health Policy and Law, and its ten modules move in a deliberate order. Modules 1 to 4 build the machinery: what public health policy is, how a proposal moves through agenda setting, legislation, rulemaking and courts, how public health law grants and limits government power, and which institutions carry policy out in the United States and in other countries. Modules 5 to 7 apply that machinery to individual rights, health insurance and public health financing, and the Affordable Care Act, the law that still frames most American coverage debates.
The last three modules turn outward. Module 8 looks at health systems and policy outside the United States, Module 9 compares the challenges the United States shares with other countries, and Module 10 works through case studies. Alongside that sequence, every student builds one health policy analysis paper in stages, from topic approval and a problem statement to background, the stakeholder and policy environment, options and recommendations, with mentor feedback on each draft before the compiled paper is due at the end of the term.
What SOS-3700’s assessments ask for
Ten graded discussions count 25 percent, each an initial response plus at least two comments that add something to a classmate’s post. Five written assignments on topics drawn from the modules count another 25 percent. The health policy analysis paper carries the other half of the grade: five drafts at 3 percent each, marked complete or incomplete, and a compiled final paper worth 35 percent, scored from 0 to 100 against the final project rubric. Expect prompts that ask you to trace a policy through the process, apply a court ruling or statute, weigh individual rights against community protection and compare the United States with another country.
Where students lose points in SOS-3700
Policy papers lose points when they describe a law without saying what problem it addresses, who gains and who bears the cost. A summary of the Affordable Care Act or a court case earns little unless it is tied to an effect on coverage, access or health. The other common loss in the final project is drafts that never change: mentors read the problem statement and background as working documents, and a compiled paper that ignores their comments scores well below one that shows the revisions. Use current sources, give dates for every figure and name the level of government that holds the power you are discussing.

Using a SOS-3700 sample the right way
Send the module prompt or the policy you chose for the final project, and a first custom sample comes back free inside 24-48h. Read it for how a policy is described, sourced and judged: the problem first, then the law or program, then who it affects and what the evidence says. Then build your own paper on your topic, in your own words.
How these samples are written
Every SOS-3700 sample names the statute, rule, ruling or agreement it discusses with its date, cites the course text where it applies and states which level of government holds the power. Requests follow your module’s prompt and your mentor’s comments on earlier drafts.
